Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) This paper describes a contactless interface serial transmission system using the inductive coupling of spiral inductor pairs. The feature is that energy-saving can be expected for the LC resonance characteristic of the spiral inductor, and the ESD protection circuit becomes unnecessary because of the contactless interface. A test chip is fabricated in 0.18 μm CMOS technology, and the transmission on Flexible Printed Circuit board (FPC) has been achieved with transmission rate 1 Gbps/CH and power consumption 5.5 mW.
