Accurate estimation of sound source positions in reverberant environment using RAP-MUSIC

(in English) We developed FIR^3 (FIeld Recording, Recognition and Reproduction) system to record and reproduce a sound field, with the aim of reconstructing the sound information of the room in another space at another time. In this system, a surrounding microphone array is used to record a sound field. A method to detect sound source positions using this microphone array is discussed in this paper. First, the properties of this microphone array were examined. Based on the results of this examination, we developed a method in which the MUSIC algorithm and the spatial-smoothing technique are integrated and named it ``Rearrangement And Pre-smoothing for MUSIC (RAP-MUSIC)''. Measurement in an actual room showed that with this method, source positions in a reverberant room can be accurately detected.
