Growth and emission characteristics of iron-oxide whiskers.

(in English) Iron-oxide whiskers with diameters between 30 and 100 nm and aspect ratios of up to 1000 were obtained by the thermal oxidation of the stainless-steel plate. This plate had a relatively good field emission characteristic of 15 mA/cm2. A field emission lamp, using the whiskers as an emitter, was lit.
