A Study on Path Shadowing Model due to Human Activities in Indoor Radio Environments

(in English) Channel variation between the base and mobile stations in indoor environments will be happened by the obstruction on propagation paths due to human body. This report presents a path shadowing model based on the study of obstruction probability for transmission paths due to human body in indoor radio environments. Propagation paths in a rectangular empty space are determined using the geometrical optics method, the path shadowing are generated by moving quasi-human bodies modeled as a cylinder with finite height, and the probabilities, durations, and intervals on their path shadowing are evaluated for each propagation path by computer simulation. This report evaluates the path shadowing probabilities containing both direct and reflected waves, and presents a method that generates the shadowing effects for each propagation path individually, in which the shadowing evens are modeled as two-state Marcov model. In this report, the characteristics of received signal level is further evaluated with respect to a simplified environmental model that the degradation due to body shadowing is treated as evenly 6dB.
