A study on a UWB printed dipole antenna with a flat reflector.

(in English) We have proposed a UWB printed dipole antenna using self-complementary radiating elements. When the antenna is attached to walls or metal surfaces, the characteristics of the antenna can deteriorate because it has omnidirectional radiation patterns. In this paper, in order to avoid the degradation due to the omnidiractionality, we attempt to realize unidirectional radiation patterns by using a flat reflector. The distance between the antenna and the reflector is designed for achieving the widest -3dB gain bandwidth. The antenna characteristics such as reflection, realized gain, transmission and group delay are obtained by measurements and FDTD analysis. From calculations of cross-correlation
between source pulse and received pulse waveforms, it is observed that the waveform distortion caused by the proposed antenna is small.
