An Experimental Study on the Radiation Characteristics Measurements for Antennas Using Scale Model Phantom

(in English) While evaluating the radiation characteristics of antennas for portable terminals, it is important to have a quantitative analysis including the influence of human body. In evaluating the effect of human body on the
radiation characteristics of antennas, it is difficult to repeat the experiments under same conditions if real human body is used. In such measurements, use of phantom equivalent to human body becomes effective. However, a lot of time and labor are required to make a phantom as the same size as real human body. Also the measurement system becomes large when the frequency is low and the wavelength is long. To overcome these
problems, scale model is proposed for such measurement system that can be made smaller. Since the effects of antenna feeding cable such as coaxial cable, is significant on the results of such measurements, it is necessary to remove its influence. Therefore, a basic study of the effects of feeding cable on the radiation characteristics measurements of antennas using scale model phantom has been conducted in this report.
