DoA Estimation Method Using Subarray-Configuration Selection with Reactance-Domain ESPRIT Algorithm

(in English) The reactance-domain (RD) ESPRIT algorithm has been proposed for direction-of-arrival (DoA) estimation, with a single-port 7-element ESPAR antenna, thanks to the reactance-domain technique and to 4-element subarrays featuring translational invariance designed into the array antenna geometry. The method could be extended to the estimation in the full azimuth plane by using all of the translational invariance configurations, combined with a direct configuration selection scheme. Nevertheless, depending on the signal DoA, this selection scheme exhibited configuration indetermination leading to estimation failure. In this paper, a new selection scheme based on a selection function is proposed for efficient DoA estimation in the full azimuth plane with the RD-ESPRIT algorithm. Computer simulations emphasis that the proposed method overcomes the simple RD-ESPRIT algorithm in term of DoA estimation precision without any estimation failure.
