Peak Power Control Using Trellis Shaping for Single-Carrier QAM Signals

(in English) This paper proposes a new peak power reduction technique based on trellis shaping for single-carrier QAM signals. With this approach, an achievable peak power reduction capability is significantly improved. Furthermore, it offers a flexibility in trading off between average and peak power reduction. Combination of the proposed approach with trellis coded modulation (TCM) and maximum a posteriori (MAP) detection also mitigates error performance loss associated with shaping constellation expansion.
