Photon-pair detection using two-photon absorption in photomultiplier tubes

(in English) We introduce a method to detect photon pairs using two-photon absorption on the photoelectric surface of photomultiplier tubes. Two-photon absorption can be applied to detection of photon pairs because this phenomena is induced by two photons which are temporally and spatially close to each other. The photocurrent induced by two-photon absorption, which is called two-photon photocurrent, depends on the incident photon statistics. In the case of coherent light the two-photon photocurrent is quadratic with the incident power, while the two-photon photocurrent induced by photon pairs is linearly proportional to the incident power. In this paper we report experimental results which show quadratic property of photocurrent induced by coherent light and generation of time correlated photon pairs.
