Eye Movements for Correcting Multiple Choice Response
Yosiyuki Takahasi, Minoru Nakayama (Titech)
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) To examine a feasibility of estimating degree of ``strength of belief'' on a response by using eye-movement, the scanpath of eye-movement was analyzed while subjects reviewed their own responses on arrayed multiple choice tasks. If a scanpath of eye-movement, which illustrated transition between a response and question item, was detected, ``strength of belief'' was estimated as low level. In other cases it was estimated as high level for ``strength of belief''. The ``strength of belief'' subjects reported were also divided into high and low groups by a threshold.
Comparing subject's reports and estimations from eye-movement, the significant correct rate of discrimation was extracted.
The discrimantion performance was examined when the threshold for subject's report was contolled, high performance was obtained while a threshold set to low level. These results provide an evidence that ``strength of belief'' can be estimated by using eye-movement.
