A Study on Easy Connection Technology for FTTH Network

(in English) The demand for economical construction of the optical fiber network has increased with the spread of
fiber-to-the-home (FTTH). It is necessary to improve in the connection technology in order to construct the optical home
network without special skills. We have developed a wipeless optical fiber that makes it possible to eliminate wiping in optical
connection work. The fiber is characterized by clean glass surface after stripping its coating. The fiber exhibited good
mechanical, optical, and connection properties. Mechanical and optical properties of an indoor optical fiber cable using the
fiber are equivalent to that of the conventional cable.
