A Method for Fluctuation Analysis in LFD Using Walsh Orthogonal Function System

(in English) The local fractal dimension can be used as an index to indicate the characteristics or manners of the fluctuation in a given time series concerning observations for physical phenomena. A method for fluctuation analysis in LFD using Walsh orthogonal function system has been proposed in this paper. This method decomposes a given time series into several main basic pulses, sub-basic pulses and the other error pulses. The basic pulses have 1 degree of freedom respectively. Then the magnitude of these basic pulses can be tested in variance analysis with F-test based on the magnitude of the error pulses. The time series can be classified into several types with significant pulse names, which are ordered in sequence of the pulse magnitude. Several examples with LFD time series are shown in difference time series between altitudinal seawater temperatures by “Pulse Decomposition Method.” Some features have been found out in omens for various geophysical events.
