A Design Procedure of Broadband Branch-Type Hybrids Based on Network Synthesis Theory

(in English) In this report, a design procedure of broadband branch-type hybrids is described based on the network synthesis theory. The hybrids shown here are constructed from a conventional branch-line hybrid comprised of quarter-wavelength lines and the multistage matching networks comprised of the series and parallel resonant circuits of lumped elements. The characteristic admittances of these lines and each value of lumped elements are approximately represented as closed form expression through a proper bandpass mapping for a prototype matching network. Therefore, the optimized design is easily enabled by giving the load conductance at each port, the number of matching stages and the desired fractional bandwidth or allowable reflection amplitude.
