Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) As the requirement for higher performance and denser implementation of blade servers increases, their electric power density also increases accordingly. As the result, the capability of the power supply for servers is becoming an important issue today. On the other hand, there are observations that the time periods in which the maximum power is needed for servers are limited due to the wide fluctuation of loads against them. In this paper, we propose a new methodology of power management for blade servers under a given restriction on total power supply. Using large capacity capacitors, it enables the server to keep running without significant performance degradation, even in a highly loaded situation.
