[Encouragement Talk] End-to-End Lightpath Establishment with Aggressive Rank Accounting in Multi-Domain WDM Networks

(in English) In multi-domain WDM networks, a lightpath establishment method with aggressive rank accounting has been proposed in order to establish lightpaths between two domains. In this method, a source node updates rankings of wavelengths for multiple destination nodes simultaneously with wavelength utilization information and edge-node information. By updating the rankings for destination nodes aggressively, the rankings are updated with the latest wavelength utilization information. Therefore, this method can establish lightpaths effectively between two domains. The performance of the lightpath establishment method with aggressive rank accounting has been evaluated by simulation and simulation results has shown that this method can establish lightpaths with smaller blocking probability than the conventional rank accounting method. In this paper, we evaluate by simulation the performance of the lightpath establishment method with aggressive rank accounting in a mesh topology in detail. We investigate how the performance of this method is affected by the route changes of the end-to-end lightpaths. Moreover, we show that the lightpath establishment method with aggressive rank accounting can be implemented by using two different methods, keeping the performance of this method.
