Our project investigates how a collaborative distance class can be created between China, Korea and Japan through the use of interactive communication tools, including a high-quality video conferencing system, a text-based discussion system, and a network-based display-sharing system. The main objectives of our project are to implement high-quality, high-fidelity environments for long-distance over broadband networks, and to provide students of EFL (English as a Foreign Language) in Asia with better chances for mutual understanding using a common language. With regard to the platforms for collaborative learning, Chat’n’Debate and Culture Box are created and used over the Japan Gigabit Network and the Internet. Results are reported by the analysis of a questionnaire given to the participants in these three countries. |
