New Approach to Code Generation for Wide-band Wireless Communications Systems
XiaoMing Dai, Yong Bai, Lan Chen (DoCoMo Beijing Labs)
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) The search or design for long sequences with high Merit Factor (MF) has been pursued for decades. Through exhaustive search, optimum binary sequences of length N<=59 were found. In this paper, we propose a novel adaptive genetic algorithm (AGA) that can design codes with special properties with lengths far above 59. The code generated by AGA achieve better bit-error rate (BER) performance than Golay codes (N=64) used in UMTS-TDD system by about 1dB on typical multipath fading channels.
