On Error Correction Schemes making use of Mutual Information between Correlated Bits -- A Proposal of Twin Turbo Decoder --

(in English) The received symbol carried by the multi-level modulation or the MIMO (Multi-Input Multi-Output) transmission consists of two or more bits, and these bits have the cross correlation between each other. However, the conventional decoding scheme in the forward error correction neglects the mutual information existing in the above bits as the cross correlation. This paper proposes the new decoding method of improving the error correction capability by taking account in the above mutual information. This paper names the proposed scheme twin iterative decoding (twin turbo decoding) because it yields the double feedback loop when applying it to the iterative MAP (Maximum A posteriori Probability) decoding.
