This paper introduces a technique to improve the performance of
Terahertz corrugated horns extremely. In fact, it has been difficult to
improve the performance of return-loss keeping the cross-polar
radiation fields far low. Especially, structures of corrugated horns
had to be quite simple when corrugated horns are applied to
Terahertz antennae since there is some restrictions on manufacture
techniques. Therefore, a new design of corrugated horn, which is
offering the advantages of improving the return loss keeping the
cross-polar radiation fields far low, connecting a novel mode
transforming section to a quite simple corrugated horn is presented. In
conclusion, the new corrugated horn is capable to radiating fields with
a return loss of more than 30 dB while maintaining a maximum
cross-polarization level of less than -45 dB within a frequency range
of 385 GHz to 500 GHz. |
