| (in English) | The Optical Inter-orbit Communications Engineering Test Satellite (OICETS or Kirari) was launched on August 24, 2005, by a Dnepr Launch Vehicle from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in the Republic of Kazakhstan. After the launch, we successfully completed its critical phase including solar array deployment, initial attitude control, and so on. On December 9, we succeeded in an optical communication experiment between OICETS and ARTEMIS of the European Space Agency (ESA). This success was a global first. OICETS finished operational checkout for each piece of onboard experimental equipment. We expect more optical inter-orbit communications tests will be successfully achieved. OICETS has 2 batteries, which consist of 32 series of 13 Ah Ni-MH cells. In this paper, we report orbital performance of these Ni-MH batteries on OICETS, then compete with ground performance. |
