Reuse of OSS models using ontologies

As the use of broad band services rapidly spreads, service providers have to quickly and economically install new services in order to overcome the competition. That makes it necessary to develop operation support systems (OSSs) efficiently. There are many OSSs which have similar functions. Conventional developers didn’t consider this similarity. Therefore developing OSSs with a clean slate increases the cost. In this paper, we propose a method to reduce the cost of making the document for OSS development reusing the function models with ontology technologies, which makes functions formalized as computers easily understand.
Moreover, we have been constructing a support environment to efficiently achieve our method. We show that using this environment shortens the time to make OSS models in the requirement analysis phase and makes the quality of the models higher. This quality enables a short review of the end of the requirement analysis phase. |
