Simultaneous Control-step and Skew Assignment for Control Signals in RT-Level Datapath Synthesis

(in English) Registers and multiplexers in a RT-Level datapath are driven by control signals. Such control signals are sent out from a FSM controller at their scheduled control steps. We try to control the difference(delay) from clock signal to the arrival of each control signal for enhancing system performance. The delay is called control skew. We discuss about control schedule(control step assignment of control signals) and skew assignment(delay assignment to registers and multiplexers) and present an algorithm to optimize both of them. The algorithm is incorporated into high level synthesis system to demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach through experiments.
