In a wireless environment, it is difficult to achieve fast and stable transmission throughput because of strict band limits and fading fluctuations. Therefore, the latency time for downloading non-realtime data will be increased and the quality for realtime data such as videos and voices will be decreased. This will cause a decrease in user's satisfaction (Utility) with wireless services. The IEEE 802.11e for QoS of realtime data can not guarantee the QoS of non-realtime data. However, utilities for non-realtime data are different under different situations of applications even if the latency time for downloading is the same. This paper proposes a QoS control method to achieve fair utility for different non-realtime applications by using utility functions and IEEE 802.11e. We also evaluate the fairness of utilities by computer simulations. |
