In mobile P2P applications, although the traded contents are enormous, popular contents requested very frequently are in the minority. If a great number of MSs send request messages to a few MSs owning popular contents and gather the requested contents, workloads will increase and the performance of the wireless media access will degrade. Moreover, wireless access networks are being various; there are so many standards and specifications related to them. Note also that adhoc networking enables MSs to communicate without infrastructure networks. Thus, due to their complexity and time variety, it will be harder to make integrated control and management for emerging wireless access networks. In this paper, we propose content popularity based radio access control (COPRA), which is a radio access control scheme that does not use physical topology and traffic flow information. In the proposed scheme, wireless access networks adjust their controllable radio access parameters according to content popularity. In this paper, we evaluate how effectively content popularity acts as an input parameter for radio access control through computer simulations assuming three typical topologies. |
