Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In this report, we proposed an error correction algorithm in order to read the Japanese sentence written freely. The subject of Japanese sentence reading is how to segment rightly the characters written at random, and to correct the errors of characters discrimination. This algorithm utilizes information on a word group, and bi-gram information on grammar and words. The error correction algorithm searches the best sentence to integrate results on character segmentation, character discrimination, word matching and connectivity between words. As a result of the experiments using Japanese sentence 437 samples, the rate of recognition improved from 10% to 38% per sentence, and improved from 72.2% to 82.1% per character. The effectiveness of the proposal algorithm can be confirmed by the experimental results.
