The applications of the spectral smoothing on selected frequency domain
Masanori Akita, Yoichi Midorikawa (Oita Univ.)
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Transform of the shape of the spectral envelopes by rules or the enhancement method of speech is often used in the speech recognition systems under the noisy environment. The effectiveness of these methods are shown, however the irregular transform of the spectral envelopes on high frequency domain is a serious problem. In this case, spectral envelopes of the noisy data contain the information of the formants on low frequency domain, even if the formants on high frequency domain are disappeared or ambiguous. So, the emphasis of the spectral envelopes on low frequency domain and the smoothing on high frequency domain may contribute to the improvement of the performance of the speech recognition systems under the noisy environment. This report shows that the method of the smoothing of the local peaks of spectral envelopes on selected frequency domain using cepstral coefficients and frequency warping method. This method is used together with the modification of the shape of the spectral envelopes by rules or the other emphasis method of the local peaks of the spectrum. Experimental results are shown in the report. And this processing method may be used for other signals. In this report, the sensor signal obtained from car seat is treated. The processed spectral envelope from sensor shows that there is a possibility of the detection of the driver’s sleepiness.
