Performance Evaluation of Transmission Beamforming Method for reducing operational load in an indoor environment

(in English) MIMO-OFDM enable the application of spatial multiplexing as a way of increasing transmission rate. When the transmitter knows the channel status information (CSI), an eigenvector beamforming scheme is well known as a way of achieving the maximum channel capacity. However, since the calculation of the eigenvectors in all sub-carriers at the transmitter is complex, its computation costs overload the transmitter. In this paper, a new beamforming method is proposed to reduce a computational load at a transmitter. The proposed method employs Gram-Schmidt Orthogonalization to a Hermitian matrix of a channel matrix and uses the obtained unitary matrix as transmission weight vectors. We evaluate the performance of the proposed method by using computer simulation and the experimental measurements in an actual indoor environment using a transceiver developed for MIMO-OFDM.
