Improvement of frequency utilization by 8x4 Eigenmode SDM transmission in indoor environment

(in English) Recently, Multiple Input Multiple Output-Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM) has attracted much attention as a technology achieving high-speed wireless transmission with a limited bandwidth. Moreover Eigen-mode SDM (E-SDM) can obtain the maximum channel capacity in MIMO channels while reducing the calculation complexity in the receiver. However, a few researches about hardware implementation of E-SDM have been done. We describe the features and effectiveness of 8x4 MIMO-OFDM testbed that can evaluate E-SDM in broadband MIMO-OFDM systems. Moreover, we evaluate the frequency efficiency when assuming the wireless LAN systems by obtaining the bit error rate (BER) of this testbed. The E-SDM transmission with this testbed achieved a maximum frequency utilization of 13.5 bits/s/Hz in an actual indoor environment.
