Broadband wireless packet access will be the core technology of the next generation mobile communications systems. Turbo coded hybrid ARQ (HARQ) is known as one of the promising error control techniques. Joint use of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) multiplexing and hybrid ARQ (HARQ) is to improve the throughput performance in a limited bandwidth. However, in a frequency-selective fading channel, the throughput performance of single-carrier (SC) transmission significantly degrades due to inter-symbol interference (ISI). Recently, we proposed a frequency-domain iterative parallel interference cancellation (PIC). In the frequency-domain iterative PIC, PIC using 1D MMSE-FDE is performed in an iterative fashion. However, since the residual interference from other transmit antennas sill remains at the outputs of PIC, the signal separation accuracy degrades. In this paper, we propose an iterative PIC using 2D MMSE-FDE instead of 1D MMSE-FDE. The HARQ throughput performance with the proposed iterative frequency-domain PIC using 2D MMSE-FDE is evaluated by computer simulation and compared to that using 1D MMSE-FDE. |
