Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) It is known that in order to increase system capacity for IMT-2000, the beam width in the horizontal plane at base stations is narrower than the sector angle of the radio zone. However, in order to make the same as service area of the conventional PDC system, the beam width of the base station antenna and the sector angle has been decided the same angle. In here, the base station antenna needs to change at the antenna of a narrow beam width for increasing capacity. Replacement of the base station antenna becomes increase of the construction cost, and cause the interruption of service.
In order to solve these problems, we proposed that the horizontal radiation pattern is controlled by metal conductor poles arranged in the vicinity of the existing antenna. These studies are reported only with vertical polarization antennas. This study is shown the influence of the attached half-cylindrical reflector to an existing polarization diversity antenna using moment method. As a result, the H.P.B.W. becomes 90 degrees from 120 degrees by adjusting parameters of the reflector for 3-sector zone.
