Research and development of middleware and applications for grid computing have been pursued energetically in recent years. However, the computation time of grid computing has rarely been evaluated when the computers that perform part of the calculation are scattered over the Internet, so that the data transfer times between computers are stochastic. In the present paper, we demonstrate that the data transfer times in such cases have the Gamma distribution and clarify the characteristics of the probability distribution of the computation time. |
