Optical Switching Analysis by Light Intensity Control in Cascaded Coupling Waveguides

(in English) Lightwave switching behavior is discussed analytically using coupled-mode theory for cascaded connection of coupled waveguides with some light intensity control elements. We elucidate that the lightwave switching is feasible when several conditions involved with phase angles are maintained by properly controlling the intensity of propagating lightwave. Besides, the switching operation is verified numerically using finite-difference beam-propagation method. As a result, the expected operation is realized and some characteristics involved with dependencies on wavelength and phase are also investigated.
