A study on system/transmission mode selection method based on real-time property of applications for software defined radio

(in English) In this manuscript, a system/transmission mode selection algorithm based on real-time property of applications for SDR terminal is studied. In the case that an application executed by SDR terminal has real-time property, frequent inter-system handovers caused by fluctuation of channel quality inflict disconnection of communication, and degrade the channel quality of real-time traffic. On the other hand, in the case that an application executed by SDR terminal has non real-time property, if inter-system handovers occur frequently and if a system having a transmission mode with higher data rate is selected by SDR terminal, then high throughput might be achieved. Therefore, in the case that an application has real-time property, SDR terminal should select transmission mode within the system so as not to occur frequent inter-system handovers. On the other hand, in the case that an application has non real-time property, SDR terminal should select system/transmission mode among plural systems. By adopting the proposed algorithm, the efficiency of whole network may be improved. The computer simulation is performed to evaluate the characteristics of the SDR terminal such as number of inter-system handovers and the throughput of non real-time traffic and then shows the effectiveness of the proposed method.
