This paper outlines expectations on Software Defined Radio (SDR)technology in viewpoint of the future mobile communication systems, i.e. systems beyond IMT-2000.
"Systems beyond IMT-2000" will be designed as combination of several access technologies to complement each other in an optimum way for various service requirements and radio environments in order to provide a common and flexible service platform. It is not likely that a unified radio interface will have capability to cover all requirements and demand of future mobile communication.
SDR could be a key technology to support the above mentioned concept of systems beyond IMT-2000, since seamless connection to various radio systems is essential feature. |
