Mappping in MIMO Systems using Soft-Decision Decoding

Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) systems can achieve high data-rate and high capacity transmission.
Since different signals are transmitted by each antenna simultaneously, interference occurs between transmitted signals.
We have to detect each signal from the multiplexed signal.
The Minimum Mean Square Error (MMSE) signal detection realizes signal detection in linear time.
However, the MMSE signal detection can not remove interference of other signals completely.
The MMSE signal detection with iterative soft interference cancellation has gained a lot of interests.
In multi-level modulation there are least-significant-bit (LSB) and most-significant-bit (MSB).
MSB is stronger for error than LSB.
In soft-decision decoding, the initial LLR of information bit and parity bit affect performance.
In this report, we evaluate several mappings of 16QAM modulation with turbo code or LDPC code in MIMO systems.
From the simulation, we show that mapping affects performance of MIMO system with soft decision decoding greatly. |
