We designed a drug delivery system (DDS) that the careers release the drug mainly in the cardiac capillary blood vessels. The blood in these blood vessels flows backward at the systolic period as the cardiac muscle contracts the capillary vessels in the heart. There are not so much backflows in the capillary blood vessels in other organs. Thus we considered that the career, which releases drug depending on the amount of flow fluctuations, could be use for the DDS for targeting the heart. To verify this hypothesis, we must manufacture the career first, and investigate the drug accumulations in the heart of experimental animals. In the present report, we used alginate gel as the DDS career, measured the amount of drug releases in several flow conditions, and discussed whether this career could be available for inspecting our hypothesis. |
