A Method of Aaptive Window-Length for Fundamental Frequency of Speech Based on Autocorrelation Processing
Satoshi Hashimoto, Masataka Nakamura (HIT)
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) The fundamental frequency of speech is extracted by detecting the lag of the peak value that is concentrated by the autocorrelation result of the fundamental component and its higher harmonics. Using the autocorrelation processing, we can extract the fundamental frequency even if the fundamental component is lacking or the stationary background noise is overlapped on the speech signal. However, if window-lengths differ largely from the fundamental period of speech, autocorrelation result cannot give the correct peak value. Therefore, this study aims to develop a method of determining an adaptive window-length. We propose an algorithm that can determine the window-length adaptively by increasing it sequentially and adjusting the time constant of exponential function, which is used for detecting the peak. As a result, the proposed algorithm for adaptive window-lengths enables us to extract more precise fundamental frequency of speech.
