Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) The present research discusses a FES control method for promoting the functional recovery of voluntary movements in the early rehabilitation of hemiplegia patients or imperfect paralysis patients by apoplexy etc. If the patient's muscles could be activated through the external stimulation synchronizing with his/her motor intentional images, the feedback impulses from the sensory receptors within the limb must stimulate the sensory and motor areas, which results in helping to rebuild a new motor map in the cerebral cortex. Then, it is required to control the joint torque and position coordinated with the patient's motor intention. So the present paper proposes a method to control them by FES including the compensation for the muscle fatigues.
