Consideration of MMG generation mechanism based on the intra-muscular pressure
Shogo Watanabe, Hisao Oka, Tomoki Kitawaki (Okayama Univ.)
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) MMG reflects muscular mechanical function but the generating mechanism of MMG is not clear enough. The authors measured MMG on the surface of gastrocnemius of a rat , an intramuscular pressure and MUAP. The pressure was measured by using an optical fiber probe which was inserted into muscle. The latency from the start of an electro-stimulation and a propagation velocity of signal waves between MMG and the intramuscular pressure were considered. As a result, (1) The location of nerve-muscle junction was identified from MMG and an intramuscular pressure measurements. (2) MMG is a propagation of shear wave and includes mainly frequency components of 40-60Hz. (3) The propagation velocity of intramuscular pressure is related to that of MUAP.
