Frame selection by semantic points for compression of sign language video -- In case of using additional motion vector --
Jun'ichi Miyao, Keiko Itamochi (Hiroshima Univ.)
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In order to transmit sign language movie in very low bitrate, authors have showed minimum movie frames, called SCP(semantic characteristic points), for recognizing sign language words, and proposed a heuristic algorithm to obtain them based on differential values of pixels. In this paper, we discuss methods to obtain the SCP by using motion vector of a wrist except for differential values. Results of experiments show that it is hard to extract SCP only by using motion vectors, and differential values are necessary. Then, we can decrease the number of frames for extraction of SCP by using both motion vectors and differential values. This new method improves time delay of extraction processing in real-time applications.
