Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Recently, the joint use of frequency-domain equalization (FDE) and delay transmit diversity (DTD) has been studied for improving the transmission performance. In DTD, the same signal is transmitted from different antennas after adding different time delays to increase the equivalent number of propagation paths, thereby increasing the frequency-selectivity and hence improving the bit error rate (BER) performance by the use of FDE. However, the BER performance degrades if the maximum time delay added to antennas plus the maximum time delay of the channel exceeds the guard interval (GI). To avoid this problem, in this paper, we propose the joint use of cyclic transmit diversity (CDTD) and FDE. In CDTD, different cyclic delays are added to the chip sequence and then transmitted from different antennas. Unlike DTD, the achievable BER performance improves as the added cyclic delay increases. The performance achievable with CDTD is evaluated by computer simulation and compared with that with DTD.
