PDMA (Packet Division Multiple Access)-based Coexistence of Multiple Operators in a Single Frequency Band

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Packet Division Multiple Access (PDMA) is a communication paradigm to share all the available bandwidth by all the cells and to use CSMA/CA for transmission control not only within the cells but also between the cells. As CSMA/CA control transmissions actively using interferences, PDMA allows arbitrary positioning of cells despite interferences between them. Moreover, as CSMA/CA transmission control works between cells of different operators, multiple operators can share a single bandwidth that there is no political problem of frequency allocation to assign dedicated bandwidth for individual operators. Frequency tax policy for PDMA is discussed taking into consideration that bandwidth reservation is possible with CSMA/CA. Relaying of traffic of all the operators including new ones at places with no radio wave reachability is also discussed.
