In TCP communication, Round Trip Time (RTT) is indispensable for the congestion control and gives large impact for the communication performance. When we evaluate TCP performance, information of RTT during
the communication is an important factor but it is di±cult to measure by the passive measurement. In this paper we propose a passive measurement method for estimating RTT in communication by using IP's ID feld and seqence number of TCP. By the proposed method, we can identify which ACK segment is for the data segment even when a sender sends several segments in a congestion window. We also estimate the number of in-fight-segments and cwnd size in the sender by using the proposed RTT estimation method. |
