A New Adaptive RED with Dynamically Controlled Update Interval of Maximum Packet Drop Rate

(in English) DiffServ (Differentiated Services) which guarantees QoS in the Internet is proposed. Adaptive RED is one of the technologies of DiffServ. Adaptive RED only sets "Target" for average queue size. It updates maxp with the prescribed interval and tries keep the average queue size equal to Target. The qualities of the real time services such as voice and video are improved since the queuing delay variations are set to be small. However, how to prescribe the interval isn't studied.
In this paper, we proposed four new Adaptive RED schemes with dynamically controlled update interval of the maxp. The performances are evaluated by the simulations. The proposed new Adaptive RED schemes do not require prescription of the interval. One of new Adaptive RED schemes shows better performance than that of Adaptive RED.
