A Random Reservation Scheme for Asynchronous Mode of IEEE1394
Tomoya Saito, Hiroshi Inai (Okayama Prefectural Univ.)
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Under an asynchronous mode of IEEE 1394, if two or more nodes send out their request signal for bus access at the same time, the root node gives the privilege for bus access to a certain node based on a mechanism called aribtration.
IEEE 1394 employs the two schemes for arbitration.
In one scheme, a relative position on the bus of each node causes unfairness concerning the bus access.
Another seheme does not depend on a relative position on the bus of each node.
But, in the scheme, the concentration of the traffic load to a certain node decreases the data transmission efficiency of the bus.
In this paper, we propose a random reservation scheme.
Our scheme does no depend on the relative position on the bus of each node, and has little influence about the concentration of the trafic load.
We build a queueing model in order to evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme, and execute the computer simulation.
