Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) The Station-keeping test flight was carried out in 2004 as a stage in the R&D effort for the realization of Stratospheric Platform (SPF) project. The aim of the test was to confirm the technologies of long-duration station-keeping flight control and operation, and also to demonstrate missions of communications, broadcasting, and earth observation under station-keeping conditions. Wide-Angle Multi-band Sensor - Thermal Infrared (WAMS-TIR) is one of the three sensors aboard the station-keeping test airship (SPF-II) to observe land surface temperature. This paper describes the instrument design, the performance tests results, and initial observation result of WAMS-TIR.
