polarization diversity employing transmit power control in MIMO-OFDM system

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) This paper proposes an adaptive transmission power control scheme between cross-polarized transmission antennas for MIMO diversity using polarization diversity in OFDM radio access, for reducing the required transmit Eb/N0 due to the impact of XPD (Cross polarization discrimination). In the proposed scheme, the transmission power of each cross-polarized channel is controlled so that it is proportional to the instantaneous received signal power of the cross-polarized channel measured at each polarized branch of a receiver. Computer simulation results elucidate that the required average Eb/N0 at the bit error rate of 10-3 using the proposed method is reduced by approximately 0.9dB compared to that of the conventional polarization diversity without transmission power control in MIMO-OFDM radio access.
