Intersymbol Interference Characteristics of Single Side-Band QPSK and Its Turbo Equalizer Performance

(in English) This paper proposes a novel single sideband QPSK modulation scheme that utilizes single reference carrier frequency and transforms both I and Q components into the same frequency band whose width is exactly half that of QPSK. The modulation method is derived first, and followed by the analysis of the matched filter demodulation. The analysis shows that there are intersymbol interference and correlation in the received signal and noise, respectively. Therefore, a turbo equalizer is employed. As a result, both the effects of intersymbol interference and noise correlation can be taken care of by soft-canceller and noise whitening filter in the MMSE linear equalizer, respectively. The computer simulations are then used to verify the proposed modulation scheme. At the transmitter, the raised cosine root roll-off pulse is employed for pulse shaping and Hilbert transformed pulse generation. The truncation of signal pulse is performed by the window function. The results show that the proposed modulation scheme outperforms 16QAM with turbo coding in slow flat Rayleigh fading channel.
