Methods for estimation of loss characteristic of installed optical fiber cables

(in English) Recently, cost-effective WDM systems, such as CWDM and B-PON systems have been developed to apply to metropolitan and access networks. These systems utilize wide wavelength region for single-mode transmission. Therefore, we previously proposed methods for the estimation of loss characteristic of installed optical fiber cables. In this study, we investigate their accuracy in detail. We also propose an application for testing of optical cable lines by combining this method with multi-wavelengths-OTDR measurements.
