Proposal of MAC Frame Aggregation using Selective Repeat retransmission in Wireless LANs

(in English) In recent years, Wireless LAN products penetrate the market, and speeding up of communication is required. IEEE802.11 standard adopts the Stop-and-Wait retransmission method of which each data frame is transmitted with a single acknowledgement frame. For this reason, the Inter Frame Space and the Backoff slots become the overhead of the MAC layer. And the MAC throughput is limited despite high transmission rate. In this paper, we propose a new scheme of which the transmitter aggregates multiple MAC frames and retransmit the failed frames selectively. Our proposal decreases the overhead of the MAC layer and improves the MAC efficiency.
